  • Seawall at Inchon
A view of the famous seawall at Inchon. On September 15, 1950, about 5:30PM the Marines came over this wall using specially prepared ladders to climb up from the landing craft. Units of the 1st Bn and 2nd Bn 5th Marines would land on "Red Beach" with Capt. Steven's Co. "A" 1st Bn taking "Cemetery Hill" as one of it's first objectives, the Asahi Brewer being another. The 2nd Bn 5th Marines would also land on Red Beach and fan out to the right of 1st Bn 5th Marines. The 3rd Bn 5th Marines had landed and secured the Island of Wolmi-do "Green Beach"earlier in the morning and making sure that the causeway from Wolmi-do to Inchon was not destroyed. This would allow traffic to flow from Wolmi-do to Inchon. The 1st Marine Regiment would land about the same time to the south on "Blue Beach". Refer to to Vol. II Marine Corps operations in Korea. Also see overview next photo.
